Open Gym
In the greater metropolitan area, court time comes at a premium. If you're paying for a court, why not pay for a cause? AssistNYC partnered with the SEED Project a NYC based not for profit which operates charter schools in Senegal, Africa. The schools use basketball as a hook to teach leadership, education and citizenship to middle school and high school aged students.
Assist NYC designed an annual open gym at Chelsea Piers where guests paid $50 to play pickup basketball with some of their favorite Syracuse University basketball legends, including Kris Joseph, James Southerland, Baye Keita, CJ Fair, Chris McCullough, Brandon Triche and Scoop Jardine. Assist NYC helped identify a facility, recruit a title sponsor, market and promote the event, execute event day activities, and secure press coverage in the Syracuse Post Standard
In total, the event has raised over $20,000 for SEED Project in its first two years.
